Santa Surgery
All I wanted at Beverly Hills was more clear signage, an extra flashing light unit on the South bound side of King Georges Rd for school zone time to help passing drivers.
I needed a couple of hundred dollars for poster material to get the message to the RTA and the Roads Minister via the media, for what I think is a simple solution that could've eased a major part of the problem there.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The "Not Guilty" lawyers I emailed for help, allegedly didn't appear to be able to spare a couple of hundred dollars for poster material that I asked for, out of the minimum $440,000 they collected from desperate drivers at Beverly Hills by charging each one $110 to be on a "list"
Although I willingly supplied them gratis, photos of signs at Beverly Hills,......help only goes one way it seems.
So this morning, Dec 14 07, as School zone santa.com is definitely a non profit one man band, I went to a back up plan, to collect something I could use, and help clean up the environment at the same time.
The fact that the election posters are still there, could be a story in itself.
I have still and video footage of me climbing the ladder and removing the posters on this side of the pole, kindly taken by a lady off to catch a train to work.
BUT I HAVE NO FOOTAGE OF ME FALLING OFF THE LADDER GETTING A POSTER DOWN FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SAME POLE.
AFTER I'M FINISHED WRITING THIS I'LL WAKE MY WIFE AND CRAWL TO THE CAR AND GO TO THE CARINGBAH MEDICAL CENTRE TO SEE WHY I CAN'T WALK ON MY RIGHT LEG.
THEN LATER I'LL RING AROUND TO SEE IF ANYONE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A STORY (COMPLETE WITH VIDEO AND STILLS) OF SANTA CLIMBING A LADDER WITH A TYRE LEVER COLLECTING OLD POSTERS?
WHY HE WANTS POSTERS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Update SUNDAY 16.DEC
I have just got out of Sutherland Hospital (on crutches)and I'm seeing a specialist in Kogarah tomorrow.
I've smashed a bone in the right foot and it's a little bit serious. They're talking about a bone graft from the hip which means it seems, I'll have a lot of time to ring and email to get the best result for Beverly hills as I could be off work for a couple of months.
Nailing of the "60" posters on poles because of my condition, is out for the moment, but I have a more "low impact" idea that may even work better, more later.
I contacted media today about the miscarriage of justice at Beverly Hills.
What I hope to get do by getting the story out, is to get as many of the drivers adversly affected by the poor signage and fined at Beverly Hills, to hold up the RTA style 60 signs at that speed camera area, to show Mr Roozendaal that REAL people with families, jobs, and commitments are hurt by their bureaucratic mindset, not just number plates.
Here I am in Sutherland Hospital after coming out of surgery and I'm told that the operation to reassemble my heel bone "went very well" although I will be on crutches for at least two months. (Full story further down page)
Not too good for a self employed, one man business.
................................................................
This morning I drove to Beverly Hills on King Georges Rd past the "24 hr varible speed camera" trailer mounted warning sign, at Warrick st, which has been there since July.
Why is IT still there?
The speed cameras at Hurstville, Penshurst and Miranda were installed AFTER Beverly Hills, and their warning sign trailers have already gone.
Is there something wrong at Beverly Hills?
I've been on about the drivers who come out of Stoney creek road never having warning trailer signs, the Kingsway Miranda camera had at least four, and Forest rd Hurtville had three.
SINCE JULY ALL DRIVERS COMING INTO THE BEVERLY HILLS "UNUSUALLY LONG" SCHOOL ZONE (FROM NORTH AND SOUTH) HAVE HAD LARGE TRAILER MOUNTED SIGNS TO WARN ABOUT THE NEW SPEED CAMERAS SIGNS.
WHY TWO ON KING GEORGES RD, BUT NONE FOR THE THOUSANDS OF DRIVERS USING STONEY CREEK ROAD, DON'T THEY MATTER?
ALL DRIVERS HAVE COMING INTO THE ZONE FROM STONEY CREEK RD IS THE FOLLOWING........
This sign leading up to King Georges rd is the last reminder indicating the speed limit for Stoney Creek Rd
A close up of the last speed reminder before the North camera.
...................................................................
Then there is the first speed camera warning sign
To be fair it doesn't really stand out does it?
If you turn right at King Georges rd you could see this and if it's 10.30 at night, and obviously not school time, this sign would be no help.
Then the last sign way up in the shop awning, which does say variable speed, but what speed ?
Can you see is it?
I've circled the sign so it's easier to spot.
This one does say "Variable speed camera" but what speed there is no sign to indicate what speed.
IS IT JUST ME, OR IS THERE ANYONE ELSE THAT AGREES THAT THERE IS SOMETHING HERE THAT IS NOT FAIR?
and this is the divided road that "needs" the speed camera?
If people speed book 'em but FIRST tell them CLEARLY what speed is allowed.
I have a couple of ideas to attract attention and refocus the media on Beverly Hills and then maybe help to overturn fines.
Last month at Beverly Hills I tried to create publicity over the disgrace that the RTA has there, in the guise of road safety.
.................................................................
Now to dress up a santa might seem a bit odd but ask anyone who drove through Princes Highway Kogarah during school zone time any day of Feb'05 they remember him.
The RTA know him too and the current road minister.
School zone santa won't go away.
..................................................................
The King Georges school zone at Beverly Hills is 1.1 km/h long on a divided 3 lane major ring road nowhere near a school for most part, inadequate signage of the lowered speed retrictions, and enforced by two new speed cameras.
I e-mailed the roads minister Mr Roozendaal (3 times), to ask him if he could get flashing lights put on the school zone sign (like the exta one already on the other side) at Edgbaston st heading South and I received no reply at all.
My e mails to him are posted "My E-mails to the roads minister" 9/10/07
..............................................................
THE NEXT ITEM CONCERNS A MINISTER THAT IGNORED MY E-MAILS.
So because he "welcomes" letters but doesn't bother to answer them, I thought it might be an idea to ask why, say in a paid OPEN LETTER to him in a major newspaper.
I would ask him why, what I think is a reasonable suggestion to help motorists at Beverly Hills, is ignored.
An open letter to a minister by an ordinary citizen is a reasonably unusual thing to, and might generate a column inch or two and extract a response.
But to put an open letter in the paper costs money.
I couldn't get any help to fund a paid open letter, so later after an opportune news report, I tried the letters page and presto
THIS WAS IN THE LETTERS PAGE NOV 8
............
I got a letter (Aust. Post) from the ministers office two working days later, so publicity does work.
The letter is shown in full further back in the site, and says that
my "interest has been noted"
