No excuse
A couple of pages ago I pointed out that although there are 3 speed limit advisory signs on a relatively minor road at Oyster Bay, there is a distinct lack of them on King Georges rd Beverly Hills, a major ring road.
.
You can see three 50 signs at this once place.
Where there should be a 60 sign is between Stoney Creek rd going North, and the the fixed speed camera before Edgebaston st.

Nothing to say it's 60 after you enter from Stoney Creek rd.
The official excuse is that where there is no speed limit sign the "default" speed limit of 60 applies.
I suppose having a 60 sign near a 40 school zone sign could be confusing, maybe that could also be deemed a reason for not putting one there before cars get to the speed camera.
No such worries at King Georges rd over Hillcrest Ave

Heading South

And heading North.
So plenty of advice that 70 is okay here, but the RTA is reluctant to advise unaware drivers of the speed limit before a speed camera.
WHY?
I will email the road minister again and ask.
